Bass Choir (section of Beginning Choir)

Bass Choir is an ensemble for tenors, baritones, and basses entering high school choir for the first time. Students work on the fundamentals of vocal tone, vocal technique, sight-reading, diction and musicality. These elements are taught through the study of diverse repertoire, music history, theory and aural training. There are two sections of beginning choir- treble and bass.
Treble Choir (Section of Beginning Choir)
Treble Choir is an ensemble for all sopranos and altos entering high school choir for the first time. Students work on the fundamentals of vocal tone, vocal technique, sight-reading, diction and musicality. These elements are taught through the study of diverse repertoire, music history, theory and aural training. There are two sections of beginning choir- treble and bass.

Chorale

Chorale is an advanced curricular treble ensemble for sophomore, junior and senior students. These sopranos and altos continue to advance in their vocal tone, technique, sight-reading, diction and musicality through the study of treble literature. They will grow in their knowledge of music history, theory, and aural training.
Concert Choir

Concert Choir is an auditioned curricular choir for sophomore, junior, and senior students. Students will advance in their vocal tone, vocal technique, diction and musicality through the study of mixed literature. Students must be highly functional with sight-reading and have a good knowledge of score studying abilities through continued education of music history, theory and aural training.
Chamber Singers

Chamber Singers is an auditioned curricular ensemble that rehearses 4 mornings per week as a zero-hour class. This vocal ensemble will explore a wide range of musical repertoire while primarily focusing on a cappella chamber literature. Auditions for this ensemble take place in January and May of each year. This ensemble takes a yearly summer retreat to Crawford County. This group was selected to perform at the 2018 Illinois Music Education Conference. Mint Condition Vocal Jazz Ensemble

Mint Condition is an auditioned co-curricular ensemble that meets 1-2 evenings per week. They explore primarily jazz and contemporary a cappella music. Auditions for this ensemble take place in May before the following school year. The Vocal Jazz Ensemble was selected to perform at the 2014 Illinois Music Education Conference and the 2014 ACDA Illinois State Conference
Treble A cappella - 2nd semester

The treble a cappella group at EGHS explores all contemporary genres of music including, but not limited to pop, R&B, jazz and country. They rehearse 1-2 evenings per week. Auditions for this ensemble take place in January for 2nd semester.
