Mrs. Keshena Luckett, Choir Teacher
Keshena Luckett has served as the Choir Director at Elk Grove High School since 2019. She received her Bachelor of Music Education and Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), and is currently in the process of completing her Masters of Music Education from the University of Memphis, to be completed in May 2020.
Mrs. Luckett served as a student conductor for the UIUC Black Chorus from 2011-2013 and was fortunate enough to tour to Birmingham, Alabama with the choir in March 2013. She has appeared as a member of Vocality, a professional choral group, several times and had the opportunity to sing Bernstein's Mass at Ravinia with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in Summer 2018 with the vocal group. Mrs. Luckett has also appeared in several operas like The Magic Flute by Mozart, Albert Herring by Benjamin Britten, and Orfeo ed Euridice by Gluck. While in college, Mrs. Luckett studied voice with Dr. Ollie Watts Davis and she currently studies voice with Julie Ann Miller.
Mrs. Luckett had the distinct opportunity to work as an in-school and neighborhood choir director with the renown Chicago Children's Choir. While with the choir, she launched their 10th neighborhood choir in the Austin Neighborhood of Chicago and taught choir in public and charter schools in the Austin, Humboldt Park, wick Park, Englewood and Pilsen/Little Village neighborhoods of Chicago. Mrs. Luckett was also able to help initiate a rare performance with CCC's top choir, Voice of Chicago and the American Indian Drum Group, The Boyz for a World Music Festival Performance at Navy Pier in April 2018
Mrs. Luckett resides in Wheaton with her husband, Daniel. On her days when she's not singing or teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
